Boutari Grand Reserve Naoussa 2001
Boutari Grande Reserve Naoussa is one of Boutari's first and best-known wines. In fact, it is the first red wine from Greece to introduce the designation of limited and controlled production among Greek wines. This fine red wine has been awarded numerous distinctions at prestigious international competitions. Boutari Grande Reserve Naoussa blends the tannic Xinomavro variety with the softness of barrel and bottle aging. Greece's 'Grande Reserve' designation may only be granted to wines that are barrel aged for two years (minimum), and then also bottle aged for an additional two years (minimum). Color: Deep red with tile colored hints. Aroma: Rich, complex aromas where notes of olive, tomato juice, cinnamon, dry fig and fine oak dominate. Taste: Very good structure, with strong tannins necessary for aging wine. Full-bodied and balanced with intense flavors offering a long aftertaste of cinnamon and dry nuts. Served at 64°F (18°C) accompanied by dishes of game with spicy sauces and yellow cheeses.
